Case Study - Garden lighting, Thornton Cleveleys
Our client contacted us following a recommendation from our friends at

.
He was having his gardens and driveway completely overhauled and was looking for some lighting to showcase the new look. To keep ongoing maintenance and running costs low, and to keep the project 'green', we selected fittings with low energy fluorescent or LED lighting. There are 53 lights in total, and if they're all on, the total electricity demand is well under 1 amp!

Pedestal Light
Front garden lighting
This was being mainly laid to lawn but with a footpath from the road to the door. There is very little peripheral lighting so we opted for wall lanterns for the front of the house and matching pedestal lanterns on the tops of the walls, all fitted with 11 watt fluorescent light bulbs. The flower beds in the garden have spike lights in them which are designed for 50 watt halogens, but we chose some 3 watt warm white LED bulbs for them. These use 94% less energy and may last as long as 20 years!
All the front garden lighting comes on automatically at dusk and switches off late at night.
Water feature
Our client wanted a water feature in the centre of the lawn, and opted for this illuminated black and white granite yin yang.
The bright white LED light inserted at the top of the columns produce shimmering effects during the day, by night fall the light transforms in appearance. As the water jet glimmers and flickers like a flame from the strong LED light, the gentle trickling water produces a calming and relaxing atmosphere.
The two columns have polished and chisseled surfaces and cleverly designed water wells at the top of the feature creating a more even water flow down the feature.
This feature automatically comes on at dusk for three hours.

When dark
Having already been to view them on one of our previous jobs, our client needed no introduction to these beautiful stainless steel LED driveway lights.
They consume only 1 watt per fitting yet cast a beautiful glow onto any adjacent walls. At the same time, they mark the edges of the driveway perfectly. They look simply stunning.

Rear patio and garden
The rear patio was in need of lighting and we installed these brick lights into the conservatory dwarf wall.
They use an 18W fluorescent lamp and provide enough light to use the patio at night, without being too bright as to dazzle the users. Four more of the spike lights used in the front garden highlight the flower beds.
A stunning mirrored water feature provides a contemporary focal point and a soothing background noise.
All these are controlled from a weatherproof switch by the back door. We also installed a weatherproof socket next to the switch to facilitate the connection of an electric patio heater or parasol lighting.
